Tank Going Downhill Help!

:-( its too late i didn't save him. he passed on right after i made a prayer to keep him alive. guess no up there really likes me. :-( :rip: i have good areation though, im using a whisper for 30 gallons and a 10 gallon air pump i took the carbon out of my tank as well.

Sorry bless him, columnaris is nasty R.I.P. little fellow.
Even though you live in a warm country i would invest in a heater as the temp being up and down causes stress and desease.

okay should im not even sure if the stores carry them but ill look into it. what size do you think would work? i wounldn't want the tank to over heat or anything.

All you say to the lfs is size of tank in gallons or litres and they will know what heater is suitable for your tank.
Heater are important even warm countrys you need to be keeping the temp at a constant temp, if the temp goes down at night you are asking for trouble as it will stress the fish.

This is a rough guide to a uk heater you go on gallon or litres of the tank.
Model - Theo 50W - tanks up to 25 L 6.5 Gals - 7" long

Model - Theo 100W - tanks up to 75 L 20 Gals - 9 " long

Model - Theo 200W - tanks up to 180 L 48 Gals - 12 " long

Model - Theo 300W - tanks up to 280 L 74 Gals -16 " long

Model - Theo 400W for the larger Aquarium.

How many gallons or litres is your tank.

It won't over heat they switch off when you set it at a temp, only time they over heat is when a heater is faulty, or it got old and the tempreture gauge no longer works and that takes years to happen on some heaters.
You need it as if the temp is really going down at night it explains why your fish are getting ill.
