Hi, I had problems cycling my 2ft tank when i first got it, it's well stabled now and accomodates a variety of corys and catfish however many fish died in the process of getting it to this stage :/

I'm soon to be purchasing a new 4ft tank and don't want the same problems, so if you can supply some tips on cycling my tank, i will be very gratefull.

Regards,
James

i reccomend the fishless cycle no deaths, no mess, 2 weeks be patient ;) you will need some source of ammonia, a filter, and some of that beneficial bacteria wouldnt hurt either.

reading here would be your first port of call...

i take it you have a full set of testkits (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate)
as you already have a working tank you are well beyond the first step, what you need to do is take some of the media from the filter in that tank and seed the new one with it.
then you can either add ammonis to the tank to build the filter or VERY lightly stock the tank and build up slowly fropm there

Thanks, lots of good information exspecialy in the link.

:)

Edit: how do you work out the gallons of a tank you only have the measurments for?
