Tank Background

Ok, it's all starting to come together slowly. So far I have most things in place and it's time to paint the tank (just the back but I think that is obvious). I prefer blue to black, just personal choice, but which of the above do you prefer. I think the dark blue gives a good sense of depth being slighly transparent but the lighter blue is much brighter.

What do you think?

Whilst the darker sample does give the affect of depth, I hate having any cords or equipment visible, so being see-through is not going to look pretty IMO.

I agree and the light blue I think would look better though do you think you could put them both up against the back of a tank filled with water so you can see how the water makes them look as I find different shades of blue have different affects with the water, some you see the reflection in sorta. I'd have to vote light blue though.

I like darker colors, but I prefer non see-through more.

OK so I took all of your good advice and here is the outcome. After filling the tank and puting the samples behind I found that the lighter sample became very grey under the T5's and the dark sample becmae even more see through. So I then tried them together and it waorks a treat.

The first coat of the dark translucent paint gives a nice feeling of depth still and the lighter paint behind gives a nice light background.

I'll try and post some pictures later.

Well thanks to a pump failure in my main FW tank I have had to do an emergency water change. I will not name and shame the comapany involved but let me just say the pump is thoroughly cleaned at least once a month and was less than 6 months old. Very annoyed to say the least.

On a lighter note I will take a couple of pics after work tommorow with and without the lights on as it is 2 completely different colours.
