So I went to a restaurant near the beach a couple of weeks ago and they had this fresh water tank in there. I never knew bala sharks were so aggressive! He was literally chewing the scales of the gold fish! Can anybody ID the ciclids? I have no idea what they are.

VIDEO

The cichlids are severum's by the shape of them, bit dark though.

yeah I would guess sevs as well. I hate badly kept tanks in restaurants it just ruins it for me, I went to a place in London and they had a 6ft tall tank that was just so brown you couldnt see through but it looked like it was stuffed with goldfish and randomly a black african cichlid that was gasping at the surface.

Wow that tank does not look that big at all. And they have... What? Two severums? And a bala shark?! And a goldfish? Goldfish are cold water!

Grrr! That tank is totally inappropriate for those fish.

Fancy writing a letter to complain? I would but I've never been to the place so I don't feel I'm qualified from just a YouTube video. If we could get members on here to agree to take the sevs and shark, we might be able to convince them to go goldfish only (looks about big enough for some fancy goldfish).

Are they really goldfish? they look a little long, I have seen some great tanks in restaurants before although this one does not look very good, most of the restaurant tanks I have seen have been very well maintained. Bala/silver sharks are best kept in groups but in my expirence can do very well on there own and last for years and years.

I think there are 2 comets (goldfish). There are also 2 dwarf gouramis and if you look carefully you'll see about 2in. water evaporated from the top, which means no water changes in some time...

Nah, they're not dwarves, look like Opaline Gouramis to me.
