Hi guys, im about to convert my 200L freshwater to salt and im looking into lighting

I understand i need T5 lights to keep corals etc as they work much better than T8, problem is i have T8 lights in the hood of my roma 200.

Is there a conversion kit i could buy or what do people advise?

cheers

Not sure but hagen is suposed to have replacement T5 units for roma tanks(atleast for 240's).linky
Im personaly tempted with it :)

You're going to need to replace the lighting unit or T5 bulbs, also you don't need T5's to keep corals, most softies would be fine under T8's

i thought T5 bulbs have different fittings? is there a kit i can buy so i can fit T5 bulbs on to the canopy i have already got?

I thought T5 lights are better etc for corals?

T5 tubes do have different fittings, which is why you need a new unit, because the starters are different, there are no converters.

T5's maybe better for them, but if they're doing fine under T8's I don't see the point in upgrading...If it ain't broke don't fix it I say.

I havent set my tank up yet so not sure if they will do fine?

i suppose i can just keep the T8's first and then save up for a new light system

thanks for your help, ill look into it a little more and see if i can get one to fit my tank
