anyone know where to get a t6 36inch tube from? most places like lamp specs dont seem to have them! i belive they can run off a t8 or t5 ballast as well, is this true? can anyone give me some links plzy. thanks

for all that dont know they are the same size as t8 but have higher outputs.!

the tube or the ballast m8? there must be more places. im sure they can run of t8 or t5 ballasts but need someone to confirm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shout: :shout: :shout:

'T6' bulbs can run of T8 ballasts, but wouldn't fit in T5 ballasts.

You can buy the T6 bulbs from aquaesentials, where you can also buy T8 ballasts.

I'm not sure how good T6 bulbs are though. I don't think 'T6' is what they should be called, but that what sites selling them call them.

i was told they have a higher output than t8's. so therefore instead of me needing to get another tube, i can hopefully run a t6! i hope im right.

i have a 30w t8 in my rekord 120, so i want more light but i dont have enough to replace the hood, so a t6 will help, 40% more will be excellent. in the 36inch size, is the highest wattage i can get 30w? i think it is but im not 100%

not sure, you will have to check out AE.

i have and the 36 inch is 30w. but that is the same with t8, the higher the wattage, the longer the tube becomes. so i will get a 30w t6 and a set of brushings and that will hopefully do me!

can some one recommend which tube is better for a 3ft tank, planted with java fern, anubias, vallis, swords, and an easy growing crypt. thanks links to my two choices

thanks all. it will be my only light tube btw. i use ferts and co2 but just need that extra 40% more light over the t8.

cant really say, if you email Richard then i am sure he will tell you the colour of the tubes, then you can make the decision on which you think will look best.

Personally i think they will both be the same near enough (around 6500k) because most plant tubes are around this to assimilate the sun, and so are daylight tubes.

Just my IMO.

so il email him and as what k they are and the colour? thanks aaron.
