Hi there

Question 1
I recently bought this tank last month and only wish to half fill the tank to around 200litres as i would like a jungle them above the water level. The unit comes with T5 lighting. 3 Strips. They are controlled as follows.
1 switch on the side controls the 2 White T5 Lights
1 Switch controls a Red Tint T5 light.

Tank I Bought

http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-1/fish-tanks/cabinet-aquarium-fish-tanks/cabinet-fish-tank-aquarium-330-litres-120cm-four-colours.html

My water went green when using these lights. i believe it is because the lighting is for use if the tank is full???
However here is my problem, i have a planted tank and want the plants to grow nicely, which of course to my understanding is i need high amounts of lighting.

1)How would i get around lighting the tank without promoting green water?
2) Should i swap the T5 lights around to only 1 white T5 light is on?
3) What is the Red light used for?

Question 2
I purchased 2 Moss balls last week, as I wanted to cover my Bogwood in this. So i Unfolded the moss ball and attached it to the woord, and tied it down with string, will this work and the moss grow?

if not, what should i be doing?

Question 3
What kind of shrimp can i keep in a tank with the following fish?
1 Baloon Molly
2 Plecs
Neon Tetras
Bleeding Blue Tetras
Rhombo Barbs
1 Guppy
Leopard Danios
2 Male Dwarf Gouramis

1)How would i get around lighting the tank without promoting green water? Less light, this could be due to some ammonia though, did you cycle?
2) Should i swap the T5 lights around to only 1 white T5 light is on? Yes, t5s are very powerful, not all plants need high-light
3) What is the Red light used for? Just promotes different colours in the fish

if not, what should i be doing? It should work ok, depending on how well you did it lol, you could use superglue, take it out first

Question 3
What kind of shrimp can i keep in a tank with the following fish? Amano Shrimp or Bamboo shrimp?
1 Baloon Molly
2 Plecs
Neon Tetras
Bleeding Blue Tetras
Rhombo Barbs
1 Guppy
Leopard Danios
2 Male Dwarf Gouramis

Also is your tank in direct sunlight?

Moss balls grow slow...in fact really really slow. If your trying to carpet the wood get some rica or java moss

Rhombo Barbs

2 Male Dwarf Gouramis

Yeah fully cycled .
Levels are
Ph. 7.5
Amonia - 0
Nitrite - 0

I was thinking about running the 1 T5 bulb for 6-7 hours per day? would this be a good course of action?

Yeah should be ok, do some water changes to try to clear it up aswell, if its in direct sunlight this would be the reason for the algae though

1 Baloon Molly
2 Plecs
Neon Tetras
Bleeding Blue Tetras
Rhombo Barbs
1 Guppy
Leopard Danios
2 Male Dwarf Gouramis

Gouramis feed on shrimp in the wild, so you may be paying for them to have a very expensive dinner. Try and stay away from small shrimp like Red Cherry Shrimp. Also, Dwarf Gouramis, especially male, can be territorial and aggressive towards others of their species. Usually as they mature they begin fighting with each other until one is injured or dead. If you really want to keep two make sure the tank has LOTS of hiding spaces.

Can;t believe I missed the 2 male gouramis lol Yes JMS is right they will fight, I know from experience, if they run into each other they can be very aggressive

Will certainly be watching the gouramis, i do love the cherry shrimp, though due to there size i feel they would become a little snack for the fishes, will certainly look to do the water changes to rid the green water, and hopefully clear everything up, any suggestions for foregorund plants?

Just to be awkward - my dwarf gourami ignores all of my shrimp. I have amano, cherry, orange ('sunkist' as the lfs called them), and my absolute favourites, red nose shrimp.
