T5 Lighting... Again ....

How far can t5 lighting penetrate the water? im changeing over to t5lighting soon 8x 39w but im worried it wont penetrate the water and have enuff light at the bottom on my tank??? any one know~?

i would say 20" but obviously you loose it as you go further down
 
8x39watt, wow that's a lot. You'd be surprised gary, if that's a 3' long tank (which I assume it is cause 39watt T5's are 3' long), and you have 8 individually reflected T5's, you'll actually run the risk of burning your corals. That's a LOT of light.

If they don't have individual reflectors you'd have less of an over-lighting problem, but 8 tubes is a bunch. Don't worry about penetration, you'll get plenty :)

Hi its a 4ft tank but my lights will be running off my fish tank computer and will turn on up to 100% slowley! also can make it doon moon effects and other bits and bobs :)
