hi these beautiful syno's are on the buying list at the lfs this week, looked them up and they are gorgeous, don't know price as of yet but does anyone have any info on them?
i know they are tanganyikan and require hard water and higher ph, get to about 25 cm max, and what intrests me is that all info i find says they are active throughout the day and night, whereas most syno's are primarily nocturnal!
lovely looking syno but feel i need a little more info before i go and order one!

Cheers

Syno catfish are great they realy common in most pet stores here are some info:

(1)Lives in africa.

(2)Like's sandy substrate with rocks and bogwood.

(3)Quit peaceful with similar sized fish.

(4)Like's soft to medium hard waters with a neutral to alkaline PH.

(5)Eats almost any thing it can devour (sinking pellets-frozen or live food).

(6)There is no obvious difference between gender.

(7)has been bred in captivity; but there are no details available.
I hope these info are helpful.

these syno's are from lake tanganyika and are hard water catfish, that much i know, they are not common in the trade and i have found it extremely difficult finding another person/company selling them for price comparison.
i believe there is no recorded breeding in home aquaria but have been bred using hormone injections, and also a lot of the ones for sale are hybrids.
im not sure if im getting it as i dont think my water is hard enough, and i dont have any other hard water fish.
thanks for your replies!!

Dave
