My blue swordtail keeps darting after my female, trying to sword her, he bends next to her then twists?? what is this?

Fighting, playing or mating ??

Sorry very confused here, also, do they need to be kept in groups or prefer a male to female ratio?? as i only have the 1 male and 1 female

Thanks
Miranda

It would be a good idea to get another female so she dosen't get stressed out by the male too much. Oh, don't worry about this behaviour the male is just trying to get the feamles attention and also get her into mating with him..hehe.

The randy little sod. lol

Okay, have i room in my tank though?

I've currently got

4 mollys (female)
3 guppies (1 male i think, 2 females)
2 platys (female)
2 swordtails (1 male, 1 female)
1 cory

I need to get another cory as i was advised they are better in groups or pairs

Let's see you have 127 litres and is transfered to the type of measurments I use that would be 31.75 Gallon (let's round that to 32 Gallons..hehe). To me there seem to be enough place for some more cories and one more swordtail. How many more cories are you adding?

Yes it will if it's a common plec - they can grow to about 15" quite quickly. In fact you will most probably find the tank too small for him. Can you return him and get cories and another female swordtail instead?
