they try to eat but they are still afraid of me. is there any way for a platy to be not afraid of me> i got them yesterday and they are happy but not really eating. poke around at some rotten matter some time but its not enough for them
Livebearer/ guppy food high quality crumbles and high q quality flakesThey may just need some time to settle in and fish can go for many days without eating.
What are you feeding them? Be sure to feed a high quality food as some are just low quality fishmeal with lots of grain/grain starch as binder/FILLER (fish can't digest grains).
I am moving to a 75 gallon so i took the light away anyway i will try to feed without lightsMake sure the water quality is good.
Give them time to settle in and get use to you.

Let the fish wake up slowly and feed them a few hours after the lights have come on.
Stress from tank lights coming on when the room is dark can be an issue. Fish don't have eyelids and don't tolerate going from complete dark to bright light (or vice versa) instantly.
In the morning open the curtains or turn the room light on at least 30 minutes (or more) before turning the tank light on. This will reduce the stress on the fish and they won't go from a dark tank to a bright tank instantly.
At night turn the room light on and then turn the tank light off. Wait at least 30 minutes (or more) before turning the room light out. This allows the fish to settle down for the night instead of going from a brightly lit tank to complete darkness instantly.
yes high quality food. they eat the guppies' leftover food tho. think theyre just afraid of me.They may just need some time to settle in and fish can go for many days without eating.

wow in my case their color is the same from the pet store, but they are scared of THE HANDI've had fish behave like that after I transferred them to a new tank. Even their color was bad. It lasted a couple of weeks, which was making me anxious. Then they got comfortable and things went back to normal.
