Swordtails - less common varieties in the U.K. - Yorkshire

Hello - Can anyone tell me how to find some "special" Swordtails ?

The LFSs only have the common ones and usually not very healthy looking.

Ideally I'd like to select my own but maybe the only way to get something different is mail order. Can anyone tell me a supplier?

Any ideas appreciate.

If anyone has some "special" young ones for sale that may be of interest please email [email protected]

Thanks - David

U can always check out my site link in my signature, we have many people keeping swords of wild forms and cultivated forms.

Are u looking for wild fish?

Or different cultivated?

As their are around 35 types of wild swordtail and 15 platies.

Hi - Thanks for replying.

I'm looking for cultivated. Just something more interesting/striking than what's available in the LFS.

Have you any members who may have some in the Yorkshire area ? email: [email protected]

Wholesale Tropicals is usually a good place to look for unusual livebearers. I've seen things like Xiphophorus guentheri, Xiphophorus alvarezi, and Xiphophorus montezumae there. They don't have any in stock right now, but you can check their online database at the link below periodically, or else e-mail/ring them up and place an order. They do mail ordering on fish.

you could always try Aquabid.com because they have sellers all over the world

Thanks for the replies.

I still haven't been able to find any special ones.

So if anybody has some in Yorkshire please email details.

Thanks for that - I'm hoping to find some in YORKSHIRE so that I can collect if at all possible.

Something similar to the Marigold Painted, Painted Sunset, Sunset with black sword, Marble, Twin Bar or Velvet Swordtail on this page:-
