Swordtail

My swordtails have been behaving oddly, spending a lot of time very still at the bottom of the tank. At first I wondered if the females were being still/quiet to give birth but they are not. Today I found a dead female under a rock, and don't know if the got stuck and died, or if she died of other causes. Her body looked OK and nothing had been eaten.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
