Hi... I have a Swordie Marigold male that I think is on his way out :-( I also have a Pineapple male who loves all the Marigold females... If or when my Marigold male passes  should I get another Marigold male or try another Pineapple because the Piney I have now is a very good daddy  Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should replace the one with??

You could always let Mr Piney enjoy himself for awhile and just wait for some of the fry to grow up. (Ha! Easy for me to say - I've got swordies coming out my ears and I still have picked up 5 more new ones in the last week!)

Actually i am quite surpise the males have not tries dominating above one another, because it is normally suggested that you keep one male per tank... But hey what am i saying, i have two males together despite they chase one another from time to time...

I would give the pinapple male a chance, if he likes the marigolds, then he will keep them company, if you feel that a replacement will be more suffice, then go get another one, i tend to always luike look for more swordtails, even when i aint going to buy any, because once you have a male and a female, you going to have quite abit of fry keeping on your hands

I thought about just letting Piney have his way with the gals ;) and wait for the babies to get a little bigger but I get impatient in waiting.. :shifty: It is the logical thing to do is wait do I don't over crowd when the babies are ready to go into the main tank... Thanks guys, I will do as you suggest.. (If I can stay out of the fish store)

Well my Marigold male just passed :byebye: now I only have Piney... Hope he likes frolicking with all the gals himself.... :*)

Thank you... :/ But Piney seems to be ok with being the only male for the gals... Hopefully soon one of his gals will pop out some fry ;)
