Thanks but my water reads 16dGH so is actually fairly hard....interesting tho

Probably not, but i hate it when poor info is given out on ill fishes (or simply no info), then again everything i (think) i've learnt is based on research so i could potentially be proved a hypocrite by saying that.....
 
I haven't checked my hardness recently but it us usually on the harder side anyway. I can't find any bloated ones at the moment I think they might have died. I still have a few good looking ones that are eating and swimming well. I was feedign Hikari algae wafers so they should have pretty good nutrition.

Dr Hilary is a ITV's trustworthy Dr type chap.....

As an aside - I think it's great that people bother to go out of their way to share what the've learnt even if it is personal experience & opinion - I'm pretty sure my fish and many others are grateful.
