I'm having a little bit of trouble with heat from my lights (I need them since its a planted tank). Currently I have a black background. Do you think that using a blue background will cool down the tank a bit?

Ofcourse, there are other things that I'm doing, like keeping the hood open for a while, and using an ice pack, but I just wanted your opinions on the background.

Thanks,

No, don't think that is going to help....

Try turning the heater down.

well black absorbs heat and white reflects heat but with it being in a tank enviroment the heat would still go into the water. Maybe some kind of fan system may be the idea.

Dang how many wattages of lights are you using to heat a 23 gallon tank up to 78 degrees?
