We have a 55 gallon tank with a Penguin 330 bio wheel filter system on a fresh water tank. I friend gave us a lighly used Fluval 305 filter system. We want to switch over to the new system, but need some advice so nothing happens to our fish. Any reccomendations or opinions on the switch?

id just simply run the 305 in unison with the penguin for about a month or so, then just take some or all of the media out your penguin and put what you can in the fluval and everything should be bo diddly

I completely agree. If you have not already I recommend you get a small jar of Vaseline and use it on the oring everytime you open the 305 up it will help to keep it in good working order :good:

Thanks for the great advice. We did just as you suggested and everything is working great. Fish are really happy, I love the fluval, the water is clear and it's so much quieter that the old system. We spent the weekend driving all over the bay area looking at aquarium stores from Dublin to So SJ. Highly recommend Aquarium Concepts in Dublin, CA if anyone is looking for a place. Clean store with nice selection, knowledgeable staff (Ashley was great, really knows her stuff), tanks were clean and fish were healthy.
