I wanted to swap two of my Bettas around. One is a plakat so short finned and one is a ct. The ct is struggling against the current of my 60L so I was thinking of putting him in the smaller tank and my plakat in the bigger one as being dhort finned he'd do better with the current.

My question is do I need to aclimatise them or just net them and swap them round?

If all the water is the same quality of the 2 with no sufferance what so ever should be ok to just net them but if not, bag them up an let the float in the water for abit

Its always far safer to acclimitise fish when swapping tanks, to allow for any water chemistry differences which will happen as a tank matures.

ive never had any issues with just swapping fish from tank to tank. netting then bagging then acclimatising then netting again will cause high stress levels on the fish. on top of that its placed into a foreign place which will also add to the stress.

if both tanks are using the same water and both only have 1 betta in then the chemistry difference if any will be very minimal. personally i would just swap them over and make it as quick as possible, keep the lights off for a day for them to get use to their new homes.
