hi all i bought a new tank today its a 2ft tank holding about 62 litres anyways i have lighting a heater and a fluval 2 filter....my question is do i really need a airstone ?
i been told i dont and am hoping there right as i dont want too much stuff taking precious room.
also i,d appreciate it if anyone near me had some mature filter media i could add to the tank.
i have started to cycle it today
thanks in advance

Welcome!

I also have a fluval 2 filter and (assuming it's new!) read the instructions on setting up the venturi filter and you *should* be ok without an airstone. I make the assumption that you'll be getting some live plants eventually?

(supposed to be an image of a fluval 2 venturi shooting from the left side)

Air pumps and airstones are not needed at all as long as you have some other way of keeping the surface water moving somehow. Any significant additional oxygenation that airstones add is coming from the additional surface movement they cause. So bubbles are mostly just a decorative thing.
