Swam with some fish today...

I swam with some fish today in a small lake (I am near the Great Lakes, specifically Lake Michigan and Lake Superior). Nobody has swam in a long time due to the weather, so when I went in they were everywhere!

They were a bit hard to see against the sand at first. About 3 inches long, with a couple 7 inchers for good measure. A very nice creamy white color with dark stripes of colors at the end of their tails. The other ones were the same except they had zebra like stripes and a plain tail.

They all swam together in a very large group, so it was really awesome. Quite friendly, coming up to our goggles and swimming through us.

My first thought was some kind of shiner. There is a definite resemblence but I haven't found any online with this sort of coloration.

Any ideas?

You should try swimming with dolphins. even more awesome.

ok I am obviously a chicken. The only fish I have seen while swimming where Trout, Salmon, and Sturgeon. When I see either of the last two I high tail it out of the water like a little baby. I cant stand it when they touch me gives me the willys.
