Suspensions? Why?

May I ask a simple question? Why would anyone be suspended for providing an informational link to another web site? That has got to be the single most idiotic, childish and "controlling" behavior I have ever witnessed. Is there an insecure 13 year-old running the show here, or what? Whoever is responsible for such restrictions, should be totally ashamed of these tactics. I thought the idea was to "share" information? I'm very confused and I guess now I'm very suspended. Oh well, time to start my own Cory Forum, I guess. See 'ya!!! - Frank
 
people put up links to other websites all the time. I can understand if you posted a link to another forum, That would not be on because then other people would look at that forum and possibly go to it. However, I wouldn't suspend someone for that. I would just tell them not to do it again.
 
Is it really frowned upon to look at another forum especially if you want some information. Isnt this backward management of the internet. Surely you want as much access on the internet as possible. :blink:
 
you can look at other forums but you just don't want to be advertising the fact on the forums. I'm sure the people in charge have no objection to you visiting other sites, they just don't want you encouraging others to visit those sites :)
 
I suppose the strongest will survive in that case. If one forum is better than another and it gets around , the poorer forums will die. But then that would be no bad thing i suppose. I couldnt see that happening here though,this place is full of information and 99% of people are excellent patrons .
 
The purported reason for the suspension was for posting a link in this forum on TFF in this forum. Both posts were TFF posts and in the Corydoras forum; none were to other forums on other web sites.

Upon review the suspension was reversed by the Mod team and William.

I had support and am grateful for it. But in the long and short, I did not break any TFF rules. I try not to break the forum rules, because it is William's sand box and his toys. So he gets to make the house rules.

But I must admit that I can ruffle feathers. And have made some stupid and annoying comments and gotten in debates that upset folks. It comes from being outspoken and blunt. I would like any that I have offended to know that I appologize for my personal offenses.

Man! I just finished 10 waterchanges. I have 3 or 4 to go and some filter cleaning to do and tank scrubbing. I really don't like this part!
 
Well we all make comments we regret ,its only human. And ive done 5 changes today-doing my last one tomorrow morning and then i'm gonna chill!
 
Frank! Help with our ID. I am Completely Confused! I got mine as wc San Juans. Are they? I will work on a better pic later. But those of CoryDad are pretty good. Can you tell?

You're absolutely correct about it being 'William's sand box'. We pay 0 $, #, EU whatever to post here and we should all be truly thankful for that.

As long as there consistency in the enforcement of rules and the rules are published then I have no problem with this.

The other posters all have excellent points as well. This is obviously NOT a black and white issue.

The rulings on Suspensions for referals to other Forum sites by TFF seems to have dogged this site for some time, I have raised this issue with the rest of the Mod team and am awaiting their views on this subject.

Yes the rule is that we may not post links to other forums outside TFF. There are some exceptions. We all in all forums post links to PlanetCatfish pics in the catalog. But it would not be acceptable to post a link to the forum on PC.

I do want to try one more time to be clear. The suspension came because I posted a link in the Cory forum to a post in this the Cory forum. I did not post a link to some forum outside of TFF. The forum rules were not broken as they stand now. William reversed the suspention after an investigation.

Of course, who knows what's next? I have a big mouth and speak my mind! LOL
