Equals one tiny little perfect-lobed DOUBLETAIL fry! They're only three weeks old right now, and, due to the incompetence of their father, there are only two of them that ever hatched out. One of them is a picture-perfect Doubletail, and the other is a cute little single tail. I was expecting only DT carriers in this spawn, as I wasn't aware that the mother was carrying the DT gene (that's damage to her tail in the photo, not a DT). She's a Halfmoon/Veiltail cross female that I got from Yeeviabetta, so I expected some cute little Deltas and not a single DT. But I did a good investigation of the fry tank last night and found in the first generation what I thought it would take two generations to get.

wow that great kiarra, i was trying to spanw a pair of fish before and didn't think anything had happend, but to my surprise i fun 1 single fry swimminga round in there like 3 days later :D unfortuneately he didn't survive, but it was definately exciteing to see a baby fish u didn't think even happend. can u post pics of teh little guy yet or his he too small?

My mum's camera (which I have appropriated for the time being) doesn't seem to have a macro feature. I have the hardest time getting photos of the adult fish, never mind the babies.

But when the little bug is bigger, there will be MANY photos of him or her. Many, many photos. I'm enchanted with the little baby already. I just hope the siblings are of opposite genders so I can have an F2!

Wou, that is interesting. She don't have doubletail geno. Mother and father all singletail. How it become doubletail geno is very interesting. Oh yes, I think the mother is a delta since she got 4 rays and not a vieltail total. Her tail do open and not like veiltail like a spade.
Is she do her business good? Laid a lot of eggs? :) Love to see their babies look like. I think they should be a very adorable one. :)

She's been spawned twice, about a week apart. The first time, the male Delta chased her off before they were done, so I pulled her, fed her, and plopped her in with a different male in a different tank about 5-6 days later. There are 4 Delta babies, and then the 2 DT/ST babies...so a total of 6 from her. She did her job valiantly, though. I couldn't have asked for better. Very insistent, laid a LOT of eggs. I would have more, but my male DT is an inexperienced little stinker, and most of them didn't make it to hatching. It was his fault. The little girl was a total gem. She was actually helping the DT pictured here to get the eggs into the nest.

I'll have photos of both sets of babies just as soon as my camera can pick them up. :)

Here's a picture of the Delta male, though:

Great news. This female was broad up by the father for 15 days at least in the breeding tank. Also great to know that she is a great helper to pick up the eggs and put it into the bubbles nest. So I have total three females do knows how to breed successfully so far. Incredible news. I haven't heard any unsuccessful females yet so far. ;)
