Last night I was amazed to find a little baby platy, I assume its a platy as all the fish I've had in the tank have been male except a female platy. This platy died about a month ago though so I wasn't expecting to find this. Its got plenty of hiding places it likes hiding in the live plants and in a gap under a log, the image below shows it near the bottom of a plant.

Assuming that it was from the platy that died it must be at least 25 days old (25 days since the mom died). I was wondering if it was a right sort of size for that age?, it looks tiny to me but I'm not sure what to expect. Any other tips for a novice, never had one before and if its lasted this long I might as well give it some attention and see if it survives.

Wow, cute little thing. Don‘t know much about these guys. I found 3 baby cichlids in the sump tank of a used setup. They were all under an inch & are now, 3 months later, close to three. They are in their own tank, away from their parents & the others.

The size at a certain age does differ per individual fry. So, hard to tell if this is a size that is suitable for an approx. 25 days old fry.
I had to look first before I saw this little babyfish.

Fed the tank for the first time since noticing it and have observed it getting food that has sunk past the melee of larger fish feeding so it must be eating. Hasn't came far off the gravel yet, when it moves around it stays low but it must be doing a good job of hiding if we haven't noticed it for almost a month and it hasn't been eaten.
