Superglue or aquarium silicone?

Does superglue dissolve in water?

I want to attach a small airstone to the inside of an old (clean) jam jar so that I can use it upturned in my aquarium as a "bell" for CO2 dissusion, as recommended here:

I'm thinking superglue would be better than aquarium silicone but wanted to make sure it doesn't dissolve first!

iu wouldnt use super glue in an aquarium ,i cant imagine it being very safe for the fish , use the aquarium safe silicone ,or a hot glue gun

Not sure silicone is strong enough....

Maybe I'll give it a try and seek out a safe waterproof glue (without the need to buy a glue gun) if I'm unsuccessful...

silicone is plenty strong enough , ive used it for a variety of projects and it is very very strong

adhesive etc wont

i use super glue in my reef tank (marines)

and there more delicate that tropical

Yes, use the gel type superglue. It works great and is harmless in the tank.

super glue if fine as long as you let it dry first or don't do to much at a time as when it goes off, cyanide is released.

Aquarium silicone turned out to be strong enough in this case, but I'll remember all that about the superglue.

My CO2 bell is doing nicely now...
