I end up buying myself a Sun coral yesterday as it really stood out in the shop and the guy there said it wernt too hard to look after as it didnt have any high lighting requirements and only needed target feeding.

Well upon getting home I slowly acclimatised the coral to the tank and did a google search on it to see what info I could get but really couldnt find much more than what the guy at the shop had said. I end up placing it under a ledge in a cave as I seen it prefers the shade over high lighting. Is this correct?

The coral didnt open all day until I added some marine snow to the tank and suddenly it opened up fully.

I was hoping you could advise me on anything I should know with regards to the corals including feeding and how best to do it. Should I feed each head individually or is feeding one head enough?

Thank You

find my recent thread on nursing a sick sun coral for instructions and pics of my sun coral feeding device I made from a bottle. Easy and it saves a lot of mess. Just know that you have to feed each individual head and it's a huge pain :D Also they require NO light and can bleach out in high lighting so beware, and they should be fed at the same time.

Im considering it. At the minute however I only have a yellowtail damsel in the tank and he is very shuy so as soon as something enters the tank, he quickly disapears into his cave! So I can easily sit and feed the sun coral with the use of a turkey baster without having to worry about fish eating the food! But once I add a few more fish then I might make my own feeding gadget like you have don chriss. Cheerz

By the way how you getting on with your sun coral anyway? How often are you feeding it?

Actually I havnt been taking very good care of it at all, Im getting ready to move it to my pico where I can pay more attention to it and feed it more often :/

I think if mine were as full as yours then I would have more motivation to care for them more regularly, but mine came to me pretty dreary looking. I'm still staying on them though, I just do it out of pity now rather than pleasure or expectancy hah
