I think they mean that you run your lights at night when the air is cooler, lights on at night off in the day, not too sure if it wouldnt freak my fish out as theres a lot of movement around the tank in the day, also daylight!!

YIP reverse Lighting simply means running your tank lights overnight when it is cooler
Generally your livestock wont care when the lights are on as long you alter the light times slowly over a couple of weeks

You could cover the front/side glass to stop any stray lighting getting in during the day

I personally have never had an issue in the past with my hood enclosed lighting but now I have upgraded to halides time will tell.
