As we all know summer is coming yay! but my worry its going to make the temperature go into the 30-32 degrees! will the fish, corals and inverts be able to survive in such a high temp? or will they adapt like my cichlids i once had? i def know thgh to have high water movement to get more oxygen into the water otherwise that cld be a problem too.

so how the hell u keep the temps down. especially for the people in america? i mean im asking for help here not just ur buggerd :-(
i mean oxygen wise i can put a wooden air diffuser in the tank which will help as i see it in my LFS or put lots of pumps in to create lots of top water movement to allow co2 to escape and o2 to come in. or is it the fish will just frazzel :S

I converted that to 86-89 degrees. Way too hot. What is your hood like? The only ways to cool that tank are:
1) air condtioner in the house
2) add or upgrade fans to your hood
3) blow a fan across the surface
4) buy a chiller
5) ice cubes in a bag in the water (don't like that choice)

SH

its a juwel, shall i take off the hood slides? and just leave light bar across? that wld help? i definatly can afford a chiller at 300 quid up for only 150 liter tank sod that! when u say fans to your hood? like pc (computer fans)? wouldnt they like electricute?

If you can't afford a chiller or air conditioning you really only have 3 options IMO:

- Scavange an old mini fridge and make your own DIY chiller
- LOTS of fans. You'll need some blowing across the top, and a whole mess blowing across your lights. PC fans work well but you may need to be talking room sized AC fans.
- Run an evaporative chiller common to overclocking computer enthusiasts known as a "bong" cooler.

Keep in mind that last option requires a LOT of maintenance and WILL make your room smell like the sea...

ok so what is like the highest temp the fish and corals can live at? forgetting the oxygen dipletion.

At 86F or so you will probably have 10% die, However, I don't think any snail other than a nerite snail wuill be able to handle much past 80F

If the temp dosnt kill your stock... the huge swings in salt levels probubly would...

unless you really go to town on the diy and add a coil to the resivoir for the slat water to pass through and then use a seperate water system for the bong... hmmm... there's an idea...

Yeah, that'd have to be one BIG coil since we cant use copper :(

I'm sorry bong? While alot of people Use bongs to enhance there aquarium viewing experience I don't think they really belong in your system.

Also Titanium Coils are the Coil of choice, almost as good as copper heat wise.

You could try Reverse Lighting your tank, that should help keep the temps down

Or adding frozon water in a bottle to the sump or the main tank

Cold RO for TopUps

:good:
