I purchased some Sumatra driftwood, and it arrived today. I am rescaping my tank tomorrow, and I need to do it tomorrow, as otherwise I will most likely not be able to do it for some time. On the label it says "must be soaked for at least 48 hours" however, it will be just under 24hrs that it will be soaked for.

I am planning on having rocks around the base anyway, so it can be weighed down by these, and the tannins seem to be little to none to be honest. It is pretty clean.

Is it safe to put in? I know it may release tannins or float, but would it be safe to put this in my tank?

I have no invertebrates, just fish.

don't see why not, give it a scrub and rinse well if you are worried.

its all about patience!! when i get new drift wood i soak in bleach and water in a bucket for a day, then rinse it well then soak in declorinated water for a couple of days then to finish i let it soak in old water from a tank water change.

never had any staining problems or fish problems
