Hi all,

I've recently set up my Aqua One AquaStyle 380 tank and I'm thinking about getting a Betta.

It has a built in trickle filter that generates some downward current from the outlet which I'm worried will be too much for a Betta.

You can see the filter design on page 4 of these instructions:

What do you think?

My fighters seem happy enough in my River reef which creates whirlpools if you have it on strong enough. When they get tired they'll either stick to the area with the slowest current or rest up on the filter inlet and let the water rush past them.

+1 on what Thedoctor said. One of my betta tanks has no lid, so the water level drops more quickly and my little crowntail in that tank LOVES to play in the filter current. I just put a plant in front of the filter output (a nice medium sword plant) and made sure to put the filter off to one side of the tank so that he has a place to escape the current if he wants/needs to.
