Hi, I was thinking it would be nice to add either one or a pair of slightly bigger fish to my 14 gallon (probably UK gallons?) and was wondering if there were any which are suitable, i.e. wouldn't eat the other little fish, and don't grow too large.

My tank currently contains:
6 very small tetras, a few neons and some orange ones
A pair of platties
3 guppies (2 female, 1 male)

Thanks in advance
Edd

P.s. I know my tank is quite full, but I have a powerfull filter and the fish all seem to have plenty of room

Hi edd hardy :)

If your water tests out ok I think it would be ok to add a couple of corydoras catfish to your tank. This would add some interest to the bottom of your tank.

Cory cats are good community tank citizens; they get along with everyone and help clean up food that has fallen to the bottom. (But be sure to feed them, too. Leftovers is not usually enough.)

Because they are schooling fish you need at least 2 and, of course, more would be better if you had room.

Hi edd_hardy,

If you're sure your tank could cope with the extra load, how about a pair of gouramis, a male and a female? They are a bit bigger than what you currently have and they're really beautiful fish. I have a pair of neon blue dwarf gouramis (pic here), but I think powder blue ones are also stunning.
