So recently I've been considering taking my angel fish to the LFS and getting something different.

In his time he has killed 5 guppies, terrorised my pleco, and he bites my tiger barbs when they sleep. He is generally quite territorial with them.
I don't like this.

So if I were to take him back, what could I add to my tank?
I've often wondered about Rams of some kind, I tried dwarf gouramis once but they both died... (willing to give them another try), the chocolate gouramis in the shop look awesome but I've been reading around and they look very fragile (what do you think on this?)

I don't want another group of small fish like tetras or something because I have that already...
I preferably want something which is interesting to watch on its own, like a gourami or a cichlid.

Any suggestions? Tank details are in my signature.

yeah i guess but i cant figure out a fish to replace it or buy another angelfish which would not be territorial to others becase it will be introduced to a new environment i guess...

Keyhole cichlid. It would work better than rams as they use more of the tank. Rams tend to stay more strictly towards the bottom, whereas keyholes utilise all levels, in my experience.

edit: and just to let you know, even without the angelfish/future replacement, your tank is on the heavy side of stocking. Hope you have good filtration and tank maintenance regime.

That looks like a nice fish, I think that is a strong contender.

Filtration / maintenance isn't really a problem.

i would get a pair of rams or a trio of apisto
The apisto looks pretty cool.
I love what I'm reading about Rams, all except the mid-lower level living area... Do they need to be kept in pairs, and do the pairs need to be a combination of genders?

they dont need to be kept in pairs but if you are going to have 2 i would get male and femal or 2 females

and you need to get atleast 2 more corys the bigger groups there in the more active they are
and what about rainbowfish

It does sound like a well stocked tank, but I would still add some more corys as those 2 will be a bit lonely.

Can we have a closer view of your rogue Angel? It's a pattern I've not seen before. Or is it just the way the photo has been taken?

There was a whole tank of them at the LFS when I bought them, they also had some goldfish white, orange and black ones but I don't want boring goldfish colours on my fish.

He's much bigger now, probably about 5 inches from top to bottom.
