I've seen in a pets @ home a small 17 liter cube tank, it comes with a heater and light. It looks pretty smart and I'm thinking of getting one for my son's bedroom, he's just 9 but I would be helping him to take care of whatever we put in there.

Anyone any suggestions of what to put in it?

ooh I have the exact same tank, and I have a betta fish (siamese fighting fish) in it. It's perfect size, the fish is colourful and he's interested and moves around a lot and has a nice personality.

You could also go for snails or shrimp?

How about 3-4 African Dwarf Frogs?

A betta is a nice idea, I expect they look lovely in the tank. But I think he might prefer something....slimy, something that would be giving grandma shudders

Snails or frogs are a bit of a problem, we have low ph/acid water here around 6.3 and I think they both prefer a higher ph. Maybe there is a land type we could try?

How about 4- 5 amano shrimp, pretty active shrimp and are about 1.5 inches in length, low bio load and easy to keep

I think the frogs might be ok at that ph.

I have a pretty stead ph of 6.2 and have not had problems keeping frogs...if you by them from a local shop then chances are they are already accustomed to the ph in your area.

shops do not go around adjusting ph levels for each tank to match the norm for that species, so if your shop carries them and they seem healthy in the tank, chances are they should be alright in your tank at home :good:
