I noticed a few people joing the forum and their 1st post are selling livestock etc. Do other prople think like alot of other forums their should be a minium post count of usefull info to stop people and traders using the site like ebay?

Sounds like a good plan :good: at least then hopefully they prove to be knowledgble about thier types of of fish and will be selling fish that are healthy and can help anyone who buys off them if the buyer runs into any problems. Otherwise a one of post of fish for sale by a virtual stranger to the forum could cause the other members no end of bother.

I agree, I personally don't think I would want to buy from someone on a forum who doesn't have a decent rep in their posts!

Great idea i agree with Weezawoo :) No chance id buy from someone unless they were recommended.

I swear your my stalker haha!!
I always check peoples other posts with what they are doing with their tanks and their advice etc. You know the trustworthy people as they post all the time :D

More than simply banning people without X number of posts (as an aside, exactly what should X be? Some people post 50+ posts a day. Some people (like me) post about 1 post a day. I hope that most people recognize that quantity of posts does not necessarily equate to quality of posts.) is that I wish that you guys just report these people. Frankly, if their first few posts -- and only posts -- are in the classified section, I'd call that a commercial enterprise, and are not allowed by the rules. Or if someone is constantly selling, then that is also commercial, and not allowed by the rules.

Basically, we have a classified section for the convenience of our members. We don't make any money on it, and it is not policed like a commercial site. We aren't looking for traffic levels of a commercial site, either. We just wanted to provide a place for the occasional excess livestock or materials to be sold to fellow forum members and enthusiasts.

So please, if you see something suspicious in there, please just hit the report button and express your suspicions. We'd rather have some false alarms than let a lot of stuff go unattended to. All the admins and mods are volunteers with busy lives of our own, so I will admit that not all sections get read like they probably should, so we do appreciate it when people bring issues to our attention.

I wouldn't be comfortable doing that purely because I wouldn't know if it was right to do so! But now I know that is the way to do it I will next time I see it :D

In all honesty?

No; if people have fish they need to re-home, for whatever reason, I'm happy for them to be able to advertise them here. There maybe something one of us really wants, and at least the fish have a chance of a knowlegable home.

If someones good will it to rehome a fish im sure they would just post in the genral section and a mod could move if deemed genuine. It more about these ebayers i have seen rencently and there prices are taking the mick why should they use our site to make a profit? To be fair there is no rule against it so no point reporting it hence maybe a min 50 post count only for selling suggestion.

There IS a rule against it. We don't allow any commercial selling. If these people are regular eBayers as you say, then they aren't allowed.

Please report them. Us mods will deal with them.
