Suggestion: Separate Area For Journals

Because rather than people posting on the forums about their new purchases and problems, they'd put it in their journal instead.

So what about everyone interested making their own journal in the applicable section, and then just add a small link in their profile or even signature. Some people in the planted forum (and others) already do exactly that. Makes sense to me.

You can select the forum when searching, so if you wanted to find a specific journal you could select to search for say 'planted' or 'gourami' in the journal section. This way you are only searching through result which are journals not results from all forums.

True but what about just a section with titles like this

55 gallon fresh water mbuna tank
125 sw tank
25 planted cube

and people post what they do as they setup their tanks and people can help them and comment on it and that way there would be no need for sub-forums. Just my opinion

Thats what I thought, make the titles obvious

and it is much easier to such for a journal in a journal forum

Im not that certain you'd need seperate subforums. Id just add the single forum labelled tank journals, and get people too label their threads accordingly as mentioned by someone here previsouly.

IE, "10g Marine Nano" or "LLj's Planted Journal" etc etc

To be honest, I think things are just fine as is.

Do a search for "journal" and you will find what you are looking for.

Or narrow things down by searching only in the particular forum you are interested in.
