Sugar/vodka Dosing

That would be fine. If you find you're getting a lot of diatoms, cut back the dose. When I started too high, I would leave in the morning with clean glass and come home later with glass that was covered so much in diatoms, you couldn't see the fish. As soon as I cut back, they went right away.

hmm i may look into this in the future

Hi mate, did you ever start this? Im interested to see how you get on as it is something I am considering doing on my new tank. Im just looking at articles and write-ups now but am a bit wary on it.

Cheers

I have a semi-log of my experiences here, if interested, James: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/326409-vitaminc-c-dosing

Thanks, ill take a look. Is Vit C dosing very similiar to the vodka dosing method then? I havent looked much at Vit C tbh. Is this the right stuff to use?

The concept is nearly the same as vodka/sugar as to why/how it works. You do NOT want to use what you posted... That is not buffered, so regular use of it will drastically lower your pH... You want a powdered and buffered sodium ascorbate made for human consumption, such as: http://www.iherb.com/NutriBiotic-Sodium-Ascorbate-Crystalline-Powder-16-oz-454-g/10178?at=0

Thanks, im guessing this will be okay then?

vit C

Have you got a link or know any info about how it works like vodka dosing? All the info I find is on how to use it for fish and coral health rather than a nutrient control.

Thanks

That looks like it would be the right stuff... The calculator link I posted on the previous page had a short and to the point explanation on how it works.

Thanks a lot for the help. I have decided to give the Red Sea No3Po4-X a go instead as I believe this should give me the same effects/results. Ill let you all know how I get on with that.

Jay, did you try this then? Still interested in your results if you do/did.

Cheers
