I found my Honey Gourami dead in a plant today
She has seemed fine and this has come very suddenly. My tank has a mixture of fake and real pants and I found her inside a big fake fern like plant. Could she just have got trapped??
Im rather worried about my other Gouramis as I cant why she died.
Any ideas??

On second thoughts, the fish had a slighty red ring around its eye and now I think one of the other fish (opaline) has a slight red circle which I dont think was there before.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry for your loss :rip:

Do you know your water stats? Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate. These will give you a better insight into why your Gourami passed away.

Also what tank size, what filtration & what temperature is your water.

James. :good:

Hiya

Im not sure what my ammonia is however nitrate and Nitrite are fine. Tank is 60lt with an Elite stingray filter.
I do my regular water changes each week and have had no problems so far

Okay thats good to see your Nitrites and Nitrates are fine. You really could do with knowing your Ammonia as it is a deadly killer. How old was the Gourami roughly. Any sign of spots or rotted fins/mouth? Loss of colour.

James.

I've got an ammonia kit ordered but it typically hasnt turned up yet!
I've had the fish for about 2 months tank set up for 5 months.
Nope no other signs of problems.
water temp 27 deg.

Amonnia is at 0.25 but due for a water change, which I will do today.
He's now spending alot of time resting on the bottom of the tank
I have a small tank coming tomorrow that I will be setting up as a quarantine tank however it hasnt been running yet at all.
Shall I just transfer him straight away as a precaution, even though the tank isnt set up yet, or will that just make him worse?
