Sudden Tank Issues...

Would any of these work, or should I look for Quick Cure?

Tetra Parasite Guard:
Active Ingredients:
Praziquantel, Diflubenzuron, Metronidazole, Acriflavine

API General Cure:
Active Ingredients:
250 mg Metronidazole and 75 mg Praziquantel per packet

Kordon Rid-Ich Plus:
Contains:
Formaldehyde (11.52% formalin) U.S. P. grade 4.26% and premium quality aquaculture-grade zinc-free chloride salt of malachite green 0.038%

Thanks for all your help!

The Rid-ich is basically the same as Quick Cure. Any of them will work though. Just read the directions carefully.

Thank you. I'll pick it up tonight and see if I need to use it. If so, I might half-dose.

I did lose the pencilfish, which I thought I might... even though I'm still not sure I put in a half-dose anyway because if it helps me from losing even one more fish I'll be happy.

I'll do a large water change tonight and keep dosing. It says to re-dose every 24-hours, with a 20-25% water change before each dose. I guess I do this until fish start acting normally, then do it a couple more times?

Edit to add, I really appreciate everyone's help and insight here! This forum is wonderful in that way.

Quick update: Been doing water changes and half-doses and the deaths have stopped so far. So not sure which was going on, but am just happy that it's stopped and everyone looks normal at the moment.

Not sure if I should chance putting that wood in again but weighting it down with rocks. Maybe if I boil it first? Part of me wants to because It's the same type as the other kind in there, and looked nice... but part of me is really nervous about it, as maybe there was some kind of funk growing on it from soaking for so long in a plastic bucket? I'll probably just ditch it and use another piece that I know is safe. *sigh*

Either way it was a heavy loss, and I feel bad for the survivors because they're all schoolers that like to be in larger numbers, I think especially the hatchets. I also now have only one pencilfish out of 5 and my plan with them was to increase their numbers. Hope she's OK solo for now as who knows when there'll be purple pencils again in the LFS. Maybe I should just get another kind. These guys were just so beautiful.

Definitely waiting for a good few weeks before adding anyone.

Total deaths: 6 hatchetfish (out of 10), 4 purple pencilfish (out of 5), 7 gertrudae rainbowfish (out of 12). Devastating. :(
