Sudden Death...please Help

it sounds like you have white spot (ich).
you say you have treated for white spot but what with?
it has been accepted that there is a resistant strain of white spot now
so perhaps a different med will help.
sometimes people think they have white spot when infact they have velvet disease, but you described the
spots like salt patches rather than a dusting, so I'm confident you have the right disease.

also we need to know your water parameters (ammonia, NO2, NO3, pH etc)
even if it just to rule out poor water quality
it would help us to know the tanks volume and what you fish have and how many.
remember we can't see your tank so the more info you give us the faster we can help.

i treated the white spot with (king british - white spot control)

i need to buy a new water test kit which im doing tomorrow so ill get back to you on that 1

i have a 42 gallon tank with 6 guppies, 6 platies, 2 mollies, 9 neon tetras, 3 glowlight tetras, 4 plecos,
.
i did have more guppies, platies and mollies but there the only 1's that seem to get ill and die

hello there,
could be that your aquarium is overstocked thats why you could be losing fish.
guppies are not has hardy as they once where, what size are the plecs.
hogan. :good:

[hello and thnks for everyones help

up until a few weeks ago i had more fish than i have now and they all lived happy together, tank may be a bit bigger than 25 gallons.
the plecos sizes are 1inch, 2inch and 2 x 6inch

I would agree with Wolf you need to check your water parameters to see if there is a uderlying cause to your problems.
nice aquarium.
good luck :good:

Hmm
WS3 is one of the better meds for white spot.
in your case I'd treat with FMG by NTLabs (look in the pond section)
it is not cheap (around £11.99 for 250ml).
the dosage for tropical tanks is 1ml per 35ltr and treat for 5 consecutive days.
remember to remove any carbon or zeolite from the filter
and turn off any UV steralisers (if applicable).

if FMG is out of your budget
try another course of WS3 as you may just have been unlucky with the first.
also during any white spot treatment raise the water temp to 30c,
this will increase the parasites metabolic rate and thus speed up its life cycle.

good luck, and keep us posted :good:

dont mind spending money if its going to save fish as it will be cheaper than restocking.

done water tests today results are
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: off the scale
PH: 6-8

so think i better do a big water change,

nitrate reading from tap = 10ish

hi
i forgot to mention the the formalin part of FMG will eat up O2 like there is no tommorow.
ensure you have an airstone gong during treatment or aim the filter output so that it is stirring up the surface
otherwise the fish may die from oxygen deprivation.

it is always a good idea to do a large water change before any treatment (in this case I suggest 40-50%)
as most meds are more effective if you don't do a water change during the course of treatment.

good luck, and keep us posted.

dont think it was white spot, more like nitrate poisoning
done a 90% water change today added nutrafin water conditioner (aqua plus)
and nutrafin biological supplement (cycle).
after a few hours done another nitrate water test and the results are perfect.

fish swimming round like its there birthday lol,

thanks for ALL your help.xxx

thats good to hear.
I'd keep my eye on them for the next few days, just to be certain :good:
