Substrate And Gravel

Hi i looking for some recommendations on substrate and gravel for my new tank! i am having trouble locating any substrate from my LFS at all and i am looking for black glass gravel but again i am unable to loacate any can any one please help or suggest some alternatives if i have not chosen well??

i used cactus compost and gravel. i got both from b & q, but you could probably get pea gravel instead from an lfs.

the cactus compost is amazing! so many people have trouble growing amazon swords, mine are like weeds!

I've heard before about cactus compost but would really like to hear how you used it. Does it cloud the water when you dig your plants in? do you still dose ferts?
