Danios aren't normaly nippy IME (though giant danios are horrendous nippers). Anyway, it would be better off returned to your LFS as they are a schooling fish and, though hardy, they do best in groups.
Pearls actualy stay smaller than three-spots BTW. Three-spots grow to 6" (males being larger than females) while pearls grow to about 4-5".
