Stupid Coral Question

Orientation around the axis wouldnt matter, its the material that matters. There are ways to measure light output, but the means of objectively doing so are VERY expensive. Try this, turn off all the lights in the room the tank is in at night. Look at the tank with and without the cover and at least look for a subjective difference, if any.

Ok, thanks Ski. That's a good idea.

I get the lights on Thurs, hopefully. I guess if worst come to worst, I can use the eggcrate during the day and the other suff at night. Or I could cover the eggcrate with cling wrap....not sure how that would work though.

You'd have molten plastic dripping into your tank

The new lights are on! What a difference!

Although I didn't realize that the legs were going to be in the way of any cover I'd want to put on. I'll let you know how things go with the cover.

Take a bright flashlight and look into while holding it behind the diamond pattern plexi... then, briefly, move the plexi out of the way (tff nor i will be held responsible if you have some sort of mutant bug chromosome and can't stop starring into the light and burn your retinas :p).

Fairly significant difference?

I suspect that diffence is magnified to a corals 'eyes'.

or possibly like frosted vs. clear bulbs? just my $.02
