Today I picked up 6 more Smokey Blues from a guy who gave me 6 on 8/11/23. They are half the size of the first group. They share parents & are from two hatches, 16 days apart, I’m told. He kept countless young ones in a 30 G tank. I put the 8/11 group in a 125 G. These fish are 6-7 months old. Is the tank size the probable cause for size difference? The second group is now in the 125 G with the first group. Can I expect catch up growth?

Baby fish grow fastest when there in a large volume of water (length x width) and get lots of good food.

Some babies are runts (especially with angelfish) and they always grow a lot slower than the others. Under good conditions they might end up the same size but some won't and will be dwarves.
