Well three days ago I walked in the lfs looking for two types of fish a Clown Loach, or a Black Ghost Knifefish. They had both but the BGK didn't look to good and the Clown loachs where a little bigger than I wanted them to be. I like buying small fish and watching them get big. So I looked around and I came across a Striped Spiny Eel. I have heard about these "fish" before. I really liked the idea of them hiding under my sand. Finally something else can stir up my sand besides me :D . Well the next day I couldn't find him So I cleaned my tank like I do on every Friday I still couldn't find him ever after I cleaned all of my sand. So I lifted up one of my fake rocks and noticed her was under there. So I just left the rock on the side. (On the bottom of the rock there is a hole of molding the rock he went under the sand and came up and went in that hole.) Every 4 hours I would wake up and see if he came out. 24Hours later he was still in there. I was a little worried so I checked it out and he was stuck in there. He went in one hole and came out another but his body wasn't big enough to keep on going though the hole. At first I tryed to push his tail and it didn't work I also tried a few more. So Then It came down to the last option to cut the rock and get him out that way.
We planed every cut and everything was going good but on one of the cuts we scraped him with the blade. This gave him a rug burn effect that is about 2cm long and 3 cm tall. IT is not every big.
After he was free and in the main tank again( I only have one tank) I rushed over of the LFS Where I live there is about 5 LFS. I went to the one that I could trust. I wanted to get some sort of med that would pervent him from getting a infection . He said that maracyn would work. Since the fish is scaleless only use 2 tables then wait a week and do it again.
So far the eel is fine I havnt see him eat but I am sure he is a little sore so he when he feels like it. He isn't digging in the sand anymore I just hope that he is waiting for the sore will heal up.

Time for the question:
Do you think he will be ok? I have a 50 gallon tank and only 3 angels and two Chinese Algae Eaters I have 3 different kinds of freeze dried foods and some sinking pellets that the lady said he feed them. Do you think he will eat when he is ready? ( I havn't see him eat since I have had him) Since he has been ok for a full day do you think I should stop keeping a eye on him and let him live his life?

Can you post stats in ammonia, nitrite,nitrate,and ph, the tank is abit small for clown loaches and a black ghost knife fish they need large tanks.
But if they are small for now they will be ok, but you will have to upgrade to a 90gal.
He might be stressed due to the ordeal of being stuck in the rock, maracyn is good that should deal with the cut, just make sure that no fungus grows on the wound.

I didn't buy those fish I was just looking at getting those... Thanks for telling me my tank is to small before I bought them my stats are
0 = nitrate
0 = nitrite
my water is a little to hard
120= ppp total hardness
120= Total alkalinity
7.4 = P.H

I just use these quick test strips. Every friday ( and just now) I test my water samples and they stay the same.

I would invest in some liquid test kits as they are more accurate them them test strips card things.
Hows the fish doing now.

Well I have bad and good news. The eel was dead when I woke up this morning. I didn't even see it comming. Good news my Angel fish spawned, I guess that is the cycle of life. It is a little weird becasue 2 days ago after I cut the eel out and placed him in the tank I noticed air bubble on my intake tube I touched them to see If I was right and they where eggs. I took all of the eggs out of the tank I didn't feel to confident about rasing little fish. Then today I was building a rc plane and I looked at my tank and noticed they laided eggs AGAIN. This time I am going to let nature see if they should. Once they are born then I will take control of them.

R.I.P. Good luck with the fry.
