Struggling with this heat!

Silly question, do you mean you bought the pump in the link, or this one https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products/technology/air-pumps/air-pump-200 The reason I ask is because the one in your link doesn't have a 200 model, and is for pumping water not air!

The pump in my link is the one I have, only the 100 as it's only for a 26 litre tank. I would get a one way valve, they are pretty cheap on Ebay. I managed to break the one that came with my first pump as the tubing kept coming off and I was a bit heavy handed pushing it back on one day. I bought a pack of 2 new ones, but I'm still using the first. Make sure you fit them the right way round.

It is not a good idea to keep the lights on 24/7. Fish need a period of total darkness every 24 hours.

@essjay is it as quiet as claimed?
Never thought I'd be so pleased to say this but next week is looking to be 10 degrees cooler according to met office

Hahah no worries! I got a message letting me know that the last item in stock was damaged so they're refunding me - now when I click the link it shows a water pump, but yeah I had got the right pump like the one in the link you posted! Going to re-order somewhere else. Thanks for checking though, you had me worried for a minute there :p Okay will keep on with turning the light off at night - I'm guessing it's alright to temporarily have less dark hours though, for the next few days until my air pump, considering the situation? Constantly head counting at the minute, so paranoid about losing more!

And seangee, omg really?? Same here!

@seangee The Eheim pump is very quiet. Not silent, but then I wouldn't expect it to be. I do have it sitting on top of a blue Juwel sponge left over from a Rio 125, and they are about 5 cm thick. If I hear a noise from it I usually find that something has been pushed against it and is vibrating on the pump. This tank is on a kitchen worktop that is used as a bit of a dumping ground, so things do get pushed against the pump. To be honest, I've had noisier internal filters.
