Stressed female dwarf gourami.

Poor, poor little gourami. Have you added the Melafix yet? If not, add it and see if it makes any difference. Maybe when her tail is a bit better, she will eat something. I hope she gets well soon! :)

Yeah I have been treating with melafix no difference yet. Her eye is still bad too. I think my male dwarf is trying to be friends with her now but she doesn't do anything, just hangs there, breathing rapidly and moving her fins fast. She sometimes moves from that spot in the pic but not very often. I really hope she is not in pain :/ .

Dont add salt because you have corydoras. I would quaruntine her. It may be contagious and its a good idea, plus most meds work better in a smaller enclosed space. I would add melafix and stresscoat if you have any. I would add some salt to the quarantine tank if you put her in one as salt stimulates the fish to produce more slimecoat which helps. Good luck, hope she is ok.

I bought a small tank and heater and have used water from my main tank and placed her in it. Do you think with it being a new tank it might make her worse? There is also no filter but I'll top it up regularly with water from my main tank. I just hope the other fish will be ok I feel so stupid.

Should be fine as long as you keep an eye on water quality daily, and do water changes daily and remove waste from the tank, good luck.

Thanks guys. Fingers crossed for the poor soul. :X I'll let you know how she gets on.

Breathing has slowed right down now. I compared it to my male and its appears to be normal. But I hope its not because she is going to die. Still hanging at the top of the water. Shes stopped flapping her fins as much. Hmmmmmmm........

Poor thing she must be exhausted, keep an eye on her, this is the thing with animals and fish, one minute you think they are pulling through the next down hill again, keeping my finger crossed for you.

I think she is slipping in and out of conciousness. She sometimes looks like she isn't breathing at all then "wakes up" with a startle and takes a breath.

Sorry that's not sounding good at all, you will have to prepare your self that she is dying, sorry.

Heres a pic.

Lovely fish, she looks fine there, but sadly can't always see the full picture with photo's.

She definalty is ill because her eyes are really fogged. I dont think its cataracts. It looks crazily similar to ammonia poisioning, but you said your water was good. Maybe the tank you got her from wasnt?

I got her ill like that, anyway I found her dead this morning so I phoned pets at home to tell them the whole story, including not choosing her, and they said they would check the tank. But I doubt it. I reckon she must have had really bad treatment poor thing. I didn't really get enough time with her to get attached but thats my first fish death. But I know it was not my fault. I hope she finds the Rainbow Bridge.

R.I.P. You did all you could for the fish, sad.
