Stress-out!!!

I own 2 sunset platies (1 male and 1 female ) and i have been observing them altely and they seem really hyperactive! not just swimming around fast but sometimes bumping into the wall of the aquarium and then zooming back and forth! Can any1 plz help explain why to me? It may be that my aquarium is too small (2 g eclipse aquarium) but thats all i have room for and i would hate to get new fish, im already attached to mine

I think your tank size just might be the case, 2 gallons is really tiny.

i know it is but i only have a tiny amount of space for my aquarium so is there a remedy that doesn't involve getting a new tank?

I'm afraid not. You should never keep fish in a tank that's too small. To be honest I dont really know what fish you could have in a 2 gall apart from a betta

Plattys need at least 5 gallons. Have a look at this : http/www.fishforever.co.uk/platies.html

Hi there thedorkiness!

I have sunset platties too.. they're great fish!! mine are very active and use up the entire 25 gallons tank as they're swimming around. I really can't imagine them being that happy in a 2 gallon. If you can.. save up for a larger tank. (with one male and one female you'll soon be getting lots and lots of babies!!!) or maybe you can return them to your local fish store and get a betta?
