I have a 55 gallon tank with one parrot cichlid, 1 silver dollar 4 tiger barbs congo tetra and 1 mickey mouse platy its beeen running for about a month now and my parrot cichlid was fine until about a week ago he started to stay in the back corner and turn to his side slightly. but whenever i open the lid or throw food he goes back to normal, goes to the top and eats the most!!!!! Sometimes i think hes faking sick for food :sly: the Ph is about 7.5 so i dunno plz help  honestly i don't know if its stress or swim bladder help please

Can you post water stats please in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Also what do you feed the fish.

Tilting to oneside can be
Bad water quality.
Unstable temp.
Constipation.
Swim bladder.
Bacterial.
Internal parasites.

What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.
Does he look bloated or thin.
Is his anus enlarged or red and inflamed.
Does he look pale or darker in colour.
Is he acting listless and lethagic.

What are the diet needs of a parrot cichlid as never kept them.

Ph is about 7.5 nitrates are fine he doesn't look bloated or thin honestly i have not seen him go to the toilet?! the anus does not look enlarged his colour is fine when he swims he jerks a bit I feed freeze dried blood worms, flakes and sinking pellets sometimes for bottom feeders but he will eat some Alsothank you for the reply :)

Need an ammonia and nitrite reading.

Don't feed the freeze dried bloodworms for a week. They can cause constipation and swim bladder problems.
I would also recommend not over feeding freeze dried foods.

All I can say is try some shelled peas.

thanks i can't get an ammonia reading right this second cuz i'm at my buddy's i will try the peas :) :good: thjanks again wilder

hey wilder its me again just a quick question would any other vegetable like chopped cucumber still help or does it have to just be peas??????????????

Peas are used for consitpation.
You can feed other green veg also in there diet.. But peas are the best, there a laxative for fish.
