Strange 'thing' Appeared In Tank

Not sure if i am posting this in the right place.

After feeding my fish this morning, i was watching them eat when i spoted what looked like a bit of dead plant at bottom of tank, that was until it was disturbed by a fish and it swam to the top of the tank!!!

I have no idea what this is or could be. kind of looks like a stick insect in water, only noticed it today so no idea how long its been there either.

I went to get my camera to take a picture, but by the time i came back it had moved and i can't find it!

Any help would be very gratefully recieved!

Tell us more. Length, width, color, markings, how did it swim (like a worm or fish or legs paddling or ??), etc.

Tell us more about your tank also. Size, stocking, etc.

Obviously, a pic would be best so keep the camera near the tank in case you see it again.

I have never fed them live food.

The thing is about 1cm long, very very pale brown almost translucent, it has a slim body with slightly bigger head, and legs it didn't swim like a fish, quite hard to describe but the head was moving from side to side as it swam!! i hope that helps!

Will keep camera next to tank so don't have to go so far if i spot it again!





oh its a 60lt (uk) tank, with 2 swordtails, 2 guppys, 2 black mollies, 10 neon tetra and 2 plecs

ok i found it, but it is too small and is not visible when i take a picture (need better camera). it is probably more like 1.5cm has 4 legs at front of body close to head, and also has a thinner almost tail like thing at back!

Have you added anything new to the tank recently like new plants?

Could it be a baby shrimp?

Most likely a larval insect, I would worry if it is a Dragon/damselfly larva, but if it's not, I don't know.
