Ok, I have 4 large Platies, 2 males, 2 females. The strange part is they tend to spend a very large amount of time on teh left side of the tank, going up and down, I think because of thier reflection. They eat like normal, and when I put my hand there they swim away, but then they just come back? Is this normal? Should I be worried? See my siggy for other inhabitants, and for tank size.

It's just they're even doing it now. They're obsessed with thier reflections! o_O

EDIT: Great, now my Panda Cory is, too. It's so weird. The cory even goes to the VERY TOP of the tank. Just to see it's own reflection.

Amonia is 0. PH /was/ 6.73 two days ago, added some ph up and gonna test it tomarrow. I Dunno about nitrate and nitrites.
EDIT: PH is 6.88 now.

doesn't seem to weird to me is it constant like 24/7 or just alot? mine like the wall too but not 100% of the time... mabey try putting something up on that side of the tank to stop the reflection for a bit

If it's constant, then it can be a sign of stress. Have they got hiding places, plants or anything, to explore? Platies like quite a bit of things to move in and out of. What size is the tank?

Are you guys sure about that reflection thing? When you're in the tank and you look out the sides, you won't see your reflection, not in the same way at least as when we look in their tank through onen side at an adjacent side. Any reflection you're talking about must be coming from the water-glass or water-air interface, which I'm guessing isn't that big.

I'm probably completely wrong, though. Would be interesting if someone had an underwater camera and took a picture from inside the tank looking out!

My platies and rasboras do that constantly as well.

It's a 29 gallon tank, and they do it pretty often, whenever they're on that side of the tank, and unless osmething else distracts them (ex. my hand) they won't stop. There's p;enty of plants, fake and real, a few rocks, and a small piece of wood. They don't do it /quite/ as often anymore, so I'm guessing it was just a settling in thing, but it's still weird, and they still do it. Also, even my 3 Panda Cories will do it too, even going to the top of the tank. That bothers me, because the 2" Silver Tips are a little bit aggressive at the top of the tank, and the cories aren't even an inch long. When the cories go up there, the Silver Tips tend to chase them around, and I'm afraid they might hurt them. :/
