Freshwater limpets are a lot smaller than marine limpets. The ones I have are maybe 1 mm across.
According to the sticky on here, they are actually a species of snail and there are two species, Acrolocus lacustris and Ancylus fluviatilis, though the photos on-line don't seem the same as mine, which look the same as those in the first post.
